A Little Birdie Told Me

Wow..it's been almost a full month since I've posted anything!  In mid March I went on a scrapbooking/cardmaking retreat with my daughter Emily.  She worked on her scrapbooks, I worked on making cards for Operation Write Home.  I will be posting several cards I made in the next couple of days, but first I wanted to post this one I made for my sister Mary's birthday.  This digital stamp called "Spring Enchantment" is from the Paper Shelter.  I thought she was very cute & the bird made me think of the Inkadinkado stamp I have that says " A Little Birdie Told Me It Was Your Birthday".  So I colored her up with my Promarkers, and laid the card out following a sketch that for the life of me I cannot remember....maybe it was "Sieze the Sketch".  Anyway...since her birthday is at the start of spring, and that's when all the birdies come back to play...I thought I would use some pastel spring colored paper on her card.  The striped background paper & light green paper I diecut using Spellbinder's Fleur de Lis Rectangles were from a small DP Collection called Emma's Garden by Jennifer Ellory.  It was free with the purchase of a Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine I bought.  I pierced the rectangle around her just to add an extra interesting touch.  The rest of the paper, buttons, jewels & flower were from my stash. The flower was white and I colored it with a Promarker so that it matched closely with the blue paper I used. And it was a little crazy adding each one of those green gems separately around the die cut ( I thought I would LOSE my mind)!! But I think it turned out pretty & I hope my sister likes it!!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Happy Birthday Emily

My eldest daughter Emily turned 36 years old yesterday...so hard to believe that much time has passed since I delivered her!! She's already joking what an old hag she is!  She's a wonderful daughter, and runs a house with six of our grandchildren & her husband Jason.  I don't know how in the world she survives...I only had two girls & one boy.  This is the birthday card I made for her.  She likes her glass of wine in the evenings, and this cute Mo's Digital image called Party Girls seemed perfect!   One of Emily's favorite colors is green, and I think the pink & green panel look good together on the card. I colored her with Promarkers & followed the sketch & color inspiration from Your Next Stamp's monthly challenge to create it.  I was looking for a happy birthday sentiment, but came across a free sentiment "How Bad Can Good Girls Get?" and it made me chuckle ( I knew she was headed out that night with her girlfriends to celebrate her birthday!)  Sorry, I have no idea where it came from.  Anyway...I used a Spellbinder die to mount the sentiment on with foam dots, created the strip across the lower end with an EK Border Punch, and added some colored pearls.  All the items used including the paper were from my stash.  Inside the card says " Kick up your Heels & have a Happy Birthday".  I hope she likes it!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!
